“Dog Breed of the Week: Scottish Deerhound” |
| Dog Breed of the Week: Scottish Deerhound Posted: 16 Feb 2011 11:12 AM PST In honor of this year's Westminster winner, the Scottish Deerhound is this week's featured breed. A somewhat rare dog breed, the Scottish Deerhound is athletic, courageous and loyal. This sighthound is large, long and lean with a physique much like that of a Greyhound. The breed is known as the "Royal Dog of Scotland" and was once described by the writer Sir Walter Scott as "The most perfect creature of Heaven." I have met a few Deerhounds over the years, and they have all been gentle, noble dogs. Learn more about the beautiful Scottish Deerhound and decide if this could be the dog for you. Are you one of the few who have been lucky enough live with a Deerhound? Tell us about your experience.
