It's hard to believe that 2010 is just about over. Once again, everyone is talking about New Year's resolutions. Like many people, I tend to avoid these because I have a hard time keeping them. Last year, I made a few resolutions that included my dog, and it did make it a bit easier to stick to the plan. I could have done better, I'm not going to lie. But, we made it through another crazy year, and my old girl is still thriving at almost 16 years of age.

Fortunately, we now have a chance to try again. The new year represents a symbolical fresh start. You can even think of it kind of like a reset button if you'd like. Of course, dogs don't understand the meaning of resolutions, but they will definitely tune in to our positive attitudes. Consider making a few New Year's resolutions that include your dog. It is bound to make you feel better about life and ready to face 2011. Plus, I'm quite certain your dog won't complain about the extra attention.

I would like to wish you and your loved ones (furry and otherwise) a very Happy New Year. Remember to keep your dog safe and sound on New Year's Eve. That means stay out of earshot of fireworks if possible, keep party food out of reach, and make sure guests keep doors closed. I hope that 2011 is a great year for you all! What are your resolutions?
